Conversion and modernization of the lock gate drives of the Kiel Great Lock

The Kiel-Holtenau lock system separates the Nord-Ostsee Canal from the Kiel Fjord as the world's busiest artificial waterway. It consists essentially of two double-chamber locks and a drainage system. The Kiel-Holtenau lock system transports up to 30,000 ships a year for professional shipping, although currently only the Great Lock can be used for shipping. In addition, in the summer months, about 12,000 recreational boats per season are added during the day and in clear weather. more

Flood retention basin stops flooding of the Wipper

More than twenty locations on the Wipper will protect a new flood retention basin from flooding. The ecologically consistent structure can retain up to 4.25 million cubic meters of water. Expansion of the Gogo hydropower plant in Kenya

The existing Gogo hydropower plant is located in the Migori district of southwestern Kenya at the Kuja River near Lake Victoria. The Gogo hydro power station, which was comissioned in 1958, has a gross head of about 20 m and a current design discharge of 11 m3/s. The current installed capacity of the powerplant is 2 MW.more

Groundbreaking ceremony 2nd construction phase Flood protection Trier

Since November 2019, the Structural and Approval Directorate (SGD) Nord, Regional Office for Water Management, Waste Management and Soil Protection Trier has been continuing the construction work to upgrade the approximately 1.5 km long flood protection facility in Trier between the youth hostel and the access to the RATIO shopping centre. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 11 November in the presence of Ulrike Höfken, Minister for the Environment, Energy, Food and Forestry of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.more

In October 2019, the city of Borkum acquired the flood protection system in the area of the former Borkum naval facility from the Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (BImA). The entire flood protection system consists of a 1,100 m long flood defence wall, five dike swells and 1,400 m dike, the so-called "black dike". more

Planning of a conveyor plant in Ottmarsheim (France)

The project with the sonic name "Long-term securing of the allowance in Iffezheim", or LSG for short, was already started in March 2014. Tractebel Hydroprojekt GmbH was commissioned by the then Waterways and Shipping Office Freiburg to design a conveyor system that would be able to supply approximately 8,600 tons of gravel per day from a storage area on German territory via the rest of the Rhine. a berth on French territory in about 1 km.more

In 2014, the city of Meuselwitz commissioned Tractebel Hydroprojekt GmbH (THP) with planning services for flood protection in the Zipsendorf and Geschwister-Scholl-Straße area. In April 2018, the construction implementation of the flood protection measures planned by THP began. In July 2019, the main work of the project was successfully completed.more

Malter Dam - Construction begins for the extension of the flood relief system

During the extreme flood in 2002, there was a significant hydraulic overload of the operating facilities as a result of the overrun of the then valid BHQ 2. In order to restore the flood safety of the 106-year-old Intze quarry wall, the reconstruction of the existing HWE and the construction of a new gutter with a sound basin will be implemented in the next 30 months.more

New construction of the 5th lock chamber Brunsbüttel

Construction work on the new building of the 5th Brunsbüttel Lock Chamber has been underway since 2014. The lock chamber walls are constructed in sheet metal construction with a reinforced concrete superstructure based on boring piles. The new lock chamber will have a length of about 340 m and a width of 45 m.more

Renaturation of the Mühlgraben in Erfurt (Kopie 1)

The Mühlgraben is a 2nd order water body in the urban area of Erfurt and an important main watercourse for the district of Gispersleben. Below the crossing of the Gera by the Road of Nations, at km 16 of the Gera, the millrace is diverted by the Gera to flow back to the Kilianipark at km 15 of the Gera. The lines of the Mühlgraben were predominantly straight lines in the existing structure, the mostly deepened sole was mostly built in, as were the banks. The continuity in several areas was especially for juvenile fish. more
