Construction progress Gleesen lock

Dortmund Ems Kanal Schleuse Gleesen

Together with partners, Tractebel Hydroprojekt is planning the replacement of five locks on the northern section of the Dortmund-Ems Canal. The new Gleesen lock is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2023. On the basis of the implementation planning, the construction services of the construction contract "Preliminary works Venhaus" were completed.

The construction work was completed in November 2022. At the same time, work was carried out on the "Rodde preliminary work" contract. This work was completed in March 2023. The term "preliminary works" is deceptive here, as considerable parts of the forebays and dismantling measures on the old locks took place in both construction lots. The tender documents for the large lock lot at the Rodde site were already published on February 15, 2023. The contract is scheduled to be awarded at the end of 2023 / beginning of 2024.

A special feature of this planning was the redesign of the lock originally planned with a sheet pile chamber to a solid construction lock, which was carried out in a very short time as a supplementary service and to the satisfaction of the client. Subsequently, the chambers of the Venhaus and Hesselte locks must also be redesigned in solid construction.
