In November 2021, the state of Baden-Württemberg, represented by the Landesbetrieb Gewässer im Regierungspräsidium Karlsruhe, submitted the application for planning approval for the rehabilitation of the Oberfüllbruch retention area to the city of Karlsruhe.

In 2016, the Landesbetrieb für Hochwasserschutz und Wasserwirtschaft Sachsen-Anhalt (LHW) commissioned Tractebel Hydroprojekt GmbH (THP) with the planning for the rehabilitation of the Salsitz dike in Zeitz. The construction measures were completed in summer 2021 and the new flood protection facilities were handed over to the LHW.

As part of the flood protection measures of the city of Erfurt, an extensive reconstruction of the Papierwehr and a deepening of the riverbed above the weir over a length of approx. 300 m is planned to improve the flood situation in the Erfurt districts of Brühlervorstadt, Löbervorstadt and Hochheim.

Extensive construction work is currently underway to expand the spillway. Non-standard concretes are being used to minimize or prevent cracking and to permanently ensure the drainage effect.

Due to local thunderstorms on July 14/15, 2021, the water level of the Prüm River at the Echtershausen gauge rose rapidly from approx. 0.5 m to 4.2 m within a few hours. Due to these heavy rain events, the Bitburg dam has been dammed up to 259.88 m above sea level, i.e. up to approx. 35 cm below the dam crest, according to information from the Bitburger Land association municipality.

Following the devastating floods on the Danube and Elbe in summer 2013, the German government decided to implement a national flood protection program. Approximately 200 measures were included in this National Flood Protection Program nationwide, for which a supraregional effect is assumed.

In mid-May 2021, Tractebel Hydroprojekt was commissioned by Stadtwerke München (SWM) to carry out the detailed design and tendering for the construction of the new Großhesselohe weir on the Isar River south of Munich. For the construction phase, Tractebel Hydroprojekt was also commissioned with the local construction supervision.

Mitigating the consequences of climate change: Tractebel Hydroprojekt is planning extensive measures to protect the city on the Oos River from a 100-year flood.
