As part of the implementation of the flood protection concept of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the Elbe dyke near Breitenhagen is to be upgraded, including raising the dyke and creating an infrastructure for dyke defence and monitoring. The dyke restoration was carried out along the old dyke line and also encroached on areas parallel to the dyke. This is a sensitive area in terms of nature conservation (FFH area, bird sanctuary, biosphere reserve, NSG, LSG). The required environmental reports were therefore diverse and extensive.
