The large-scale industrial area "Erfurter Kreuz" between Arnstadt and Ichtershausen is the largest industrial area in the Free State of Thuringia. Tractebel Hydroprojekt was commissioned by Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Thüringen with the development planning for all five construction phases. The first construction phase was completed in 2007, thus creating the conditions for investors to settle in the area.
