Magdeburg low-water lock

Niedrigwasserschleuse Magdeburg

A lock with a pumping station was built in the southern section of the Rothensee connecting canal (km 323+600 to 325+000) to the Elbe to connect the Magdeburg harbours to the Mittelland Canal all year round, which is only operated at low Elbe water levels and is open for free passage at higher Elbe water levels.
