In the north of Erfurt, the ecological continuity of the Gera was to be restored, the watercourse structure improved in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive, the safe discharge of flood water ensured and near-natural bank areas created. For this purpose, an extensive stock of pipes had to be taken into account. Special attention was also paid to integrating the design into the surrounding green spaces.
