Start of construction works for the Neuwürschnitz flood retention basin, Germany

On June 2nd, 2014, the works for the dam and ancillary structures of the Neuwürschnitz flood retention basin have commenced. The basin, a component of the flood protection concept #27, will be located at the Beuthenbach river southwest of Chemnitz, Germany, and will feature a capacity of 923,000 m³. The requirements for ecological passability made for exceptional conditions which had to be met by developing a custom solution.
