Theflooding caused  considerable damage  a in Eisenach. n.  Due to  the increasing risk of flooding, the responsible Thuringian State Office for the Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation expects the risk of further flooding of large parts of the city. Therefore, the urban area receives a sustainable flood protectionz, which atthe  same time  createst new habitats for flora and fauna.

The planned flood protection along the  Hörsel is divided into five sections (measurescomplex  MK  I-V).   The  project  is a top priority as  part of the "FloodProtection Programme 2016 to 2021". The aim is  to protectthe entire urban area from a 100-year flood  (HQ100).  The river should  lose its canal-like impression as far as possible and be renaturalized.  .

Heis modelling living rooms by the river
Tractebel's hydraulic engineering experts received the first planning contract in 2010 for the  MK  I,  and a year later for the MK  II. Both have already been  successfully completed. In 2019 and 2020,  the team carried out the  execution planning  andie  construction preparation of MK II  . Construction of this section is due to begin in autumn 2020..

Currently, the experienced engineers are tasked with planning the MK IV: Between the Wutha-Farnroda railway bridge and the Langensalzaer Straße bridge, various flood protection measures are planned. These include, among other things, new flood protection walls, the upgrading of existing dikes,  Deichanlagen  and  a new bridge replacement..  Terrain modelling  and  water-wideningn will design the shore areas as living and experience spaces.  gestalten.

For a  total of three complexes, Tractebel is also responsible for  ecological  construction supervision.  Our specialists monitor whether the implementation of the construction projects complies with legal regulations in accordance with the Federal Nature Conservation Act  and whether species protection concerns are taken into account. They develop  planning services under nature protection law and accompany the landscape management execution planning. The tasks also include  applying for and organising the fishing necessary during the construction phase. Our Team is expected to completeits work in  2029.
