Initial planning for the Öberauer Schleife flood polder, Germany

After the June 2013 flood, which caused a total damage of € 1.3 billion, a flood protection program has been launched for the German free state of Bavaria. Among other projects, it comprises a flood polder concept for the Bavarian Danube river which will be subject to further development in the next years.

As part of this concept, Lahmeyer Hydroprojekt has been entrusted with the design of the Öberauer Schleife flood polder near Straubing, Germany. In June 2015, the initial planning for this project has begun, which will result in a retention capacity of about 10 mill. m³.
