On December 12th 2013, the navigation lock was approved for usage and inaugurated. The 215 m long and 25 m wide structure in the Rothensee connective canal is part of the Hannover-Magdeburg-Berlin waterway. Now that the lock has been completed, the all-year accessibility of the Magdeburg harbours for all ship sizes is established.
