During the extreme flood in 2002, there was a significant hydraulic overload of the operating facilities as a result of the overrun of the then valid BHQ 2. In order to restore the flood safety of the 106-year-old Intze quarry wall, the reconstruction of the existing HWE and the construction of a new gutter with a sound basin will be implemented in the next 30 months.
The link between the existing and the new HWE is carried out by a newly developed complex division structure. On 12 August 2019, Thomas Schmidt, Minister of State for the Environment and Agriculture in Saxony, completed the construction of the 21 million euro project south of Dresden with a ceremonial dredging ceremony.
On behalf of the operator, the State Dam Administration of the Free State of Saxony, the engineering working group "LHP-SI Talsperre Malter" has been compiled the planning and tenderdocuments since 2013 as well as accompanying the physical model test and will provide services for local construction supervision and supervision during the construction phase.
