The 87th ICOLD Annual Meeting took place in Ottawa, Canada, from 9 to 14 June 2019. About 1,400 participants from 75 countries attended the conference on "Sustainable and safe Dams around the World".

Several key experts of the Tractebel Business Line Water participated in numerous technical committees or presented contributions in the lectures. Together with Tractebel Engineering (formerly Lahmeyer International), Tractebel Hydroprojekt was again represented at the booth of the German Dam Committee (DTK). As a DTK fellow, Kristina Aldermann (Business Unit Dresden) also participated in her excellent diploma thesis at the Technical University of Dresden ("Comparative application of the detection concepts with overall safety co-values and part safety co-values safety calculations of dams") at the event. Participation in the ICOLD events enables the "view beyond the box" and opens up valuable information about the world's current developments in the dam sector. At the same time, the existing dam know-how in Germany, for example in the areas of dam rehabilitation or ecologically consistent flood retention basins, can be presented to international experts. The 88th ICOLD Annual Meeting will take place in New Delhi (India) in early April 2020. Entries to the symposium can be submitted until 30 September 2019. The DTK also once again awards two travel scholarships, for which university graduates with dam-specific theses can apply.
