From 5 to 6 March 2020, the traditional Dresden Hydraulic Engineering Colloquium took place at the International Congress Center Dresden. The Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Technical Hydromechanics at the Technical University of Dresden, with the kind support of the Society of Sponsors of the Hubert Engels Institute, the DWA and the BWK, welcomed about 300 participants from Germany and abroad just before the Corona-lockdown.

The event was held under the ambitious motto "Interdisciplinary hydraulic engineering in digital change". In the lecture section, Tractebel was represented with a total of six lectures and presented the entire spectrum of its fields of work. In the thematic block "Complex Planning", Mr Achatz presented the planning for the Forbach pumped storage power plant and Mr Schaulat the Lübeck lift bridge ensemble. Another lecture on the Öberauer Schleife flood retention was presented by Ms Ezzeddine. Other THP speakers were Ms Aldermann on 3-D FE modelling of dam walls and Mr Schaarschmidt on the Wippra flood retention basin. Mr Oettinghaus from Tractebel Engineering (formerly Lahmeyer International) reported on the topic of "BIM Collaboration". The contributions to the presentations were published in the conference proceedings (Dresdner Wasserbauliche Mitteilungen Heft 63). The THP exhibition stand was again a well-visited meeting place during the breaks. The organisers are currently examining the changed boundary conditions for the next Dresden Hydraulic Engineering Colloquium as a result of the Corona pandemic and will announce the date and form of the event in good time.
